Warranty

What warranty coverage typically covers on a used engine or transmission, and what it does not.

Warranty options

Warranty options are available on most engines and transmissions we supply. Coverage terms vary by unit, so the options that apply to your part are stated on your quote before you order — not assumed afterwards.

What coverage typically includes

  • Internally lubricated components of the engine or transmission unit
  • A defined coverage period starting from the delivery date
  • Replacement or refund of the supplied unit where a covered failure is confirmed

What coverage typically excludes

  • Labour, fluids, towing, rental vehicles and other consequential costs, unless a labour option was purchased
  • Damage from incorrect installation, or from running the unit without correct fluids or cooling
  • Failures caused by a pre-existing fault elsewhere in the vehicle, such as an overheating cooling system
  • Units installed by someone other than a qualified mechanic, where the terms require professional installation
  • Bolt-on accessories transferred from your original unit

Protecting your coverage

  • Have the unit installed by a qualified mechanic and keep the invoice
  • Replace fluids, filters and any wear items the installer recommends
  • Fix the cause of the original failure before fitting the replacement
  • Keep your order documentation until the coverage period ends

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the warranty actually cover?

Coverage normally applies to the internally lubricated components of the unit we supplied, for a defined period starting at delivery. It covers the part failing, not the cost of dealing with that failure, so labour, fluids, towing and rental vehicles are excluded unless a labour option was purchased alongside it.

Does the warranty cover the labour to fit it?

Not by default. Labour coverage is a separate option on most units, and it is worth asking about before you order, because refitting an engine is often the largest single line on the job.

Will installing it myself void the warranty?

It can, depending on the terms attached to that unit. Several warranties require installation by a qualified mechanic and an invoice to prove it. If you intend to do the work yourself, say so when you request the quote and we will tell you which coverage still applies.

What voids the warranty most often?

Not fixing what caused the original failure. Fitting a replacement engine to a car with the overheating cooling system that killed the first one will destroy the second one too, and that is excluded as consequential damage. Running without correct fluids and incorrect installation are the other two common causes.

Questions About Coverage?

Ask before you order — we would rather answer it up front.
